Christ the King Youth Ministries
April 22, 2004 Meeting Minutes

Monadnock Campout

The site we have booked is for 15 people. We will have 4 adults (Dan Skibba, Lauren Chomiczewski, Steve Hansen and Sue Hansen) and 11 youth. So far there are only 2 youth signed up which puts this event in jeopardy. There will be a meeting of attendees after the second service on Sunday, May 16th. Pizza will be provided.

Spring Fling

There are 9 youth signed up. Advisors are Bill and Sophia Carr.

Contemporary Worship Service

The current date for this service is June 20th. Pastor is pursuing a guitar player. The plan is to have one service followed by the congregational meeting.

May Youth Group gathering

The announcement has been in the bulletin and post cards have been mailed. The plan is to eat Mexican food while learning about the Lutheran church in Mexico. (Note: This meet was cancelled due to lack of youth response.)

Update on CtK Council Reorganization

We discussed the migration to a decentralized ministry model and how it will affect Youth Ministries. Dan's intent is to leave council and continue working in Youth Ministry. Youth Ministry will be the least affected ministry because it already operates through the Youth Ministry Council. Areas of concern are youth involvement and the participation of adults. We need to get more adults with a wide range of skills involved.

Youth Ministries Survey

We discussed the possibility of surveying CtK youth to gather information about how youth perceive Youth Ministry and other ministries at CtK. Dan presented a sample form that focused on Outreach. We will use that survey as the baseline survey form. Several changes were discussed. Dan will incorporate the changes and distribute the form for review. We hope to get a large response so we will need to reach youth who are not currently involved in Youth Ministries and other activities at CtK. We will come up with some incentive to return the survey. This may be some reward for returning the survey or a prize awarded to one of the respondents or possibly both.

Youth Ministries Focus Group

We discussed the need for this kind of dialogue and agreed it would be valuable. Dan said he should not be part of it because of his role in Youth Ministries and there was general concurrence. We will hold off on trying to organize this until we have a better feel of what is happening in shepherding and other areas of ministry at CtK.

Youth Ministry Summary for Web Site

We reviewed the website summary and discussed some minor changes. Dan will convey the changes to Jana Holst.

Opportunities to Serve

Dan created a document describing the areas where CtK members can serve Youth Ministries. We discussed several updates. Dan will make the changes and distribute the updated document. This document will be added to the CtK Youth page in the CtK web site and will be part of binder that describes opportunities to serve in all of the various ministries At CtK.
