Christ the King Youth Ministries
March 23, 2004 Meeting Minutes

Monarchs Hockey Game

Twenty-five people attended the game this past Sunday.  We felt that there would have been more people if it had been promoted more.  Next year we will try to get something in the Clarion.   Also, if we can get someone to revive “What’s up with Youth”, event information may reach more people.

Monadnock Campout

The site we have booked is for 15 people.  We will have 4 adults and 11 youth.  Dan will have sign-up info out before Easter.

Spring Fling

We had 3 youth signed up as of the meeting.  There are currently 9 signed up.  Advisors are Bill and Sophia Carr.

Contemporary Worship Service

The date is in flux due to the availability of a guitar player.  This effort will swing into high gear after Easter.

Roland Martinson Workshop

Dan passed out the handout with registration information.  The cost is low and training money is available if anyone wishes to attend.  The materials invited youth but the description of the event focused on the result of studies that Dr. Martinson was involved in.  Dan suggested that the workshop would be useful for those who have never seen a presentation about the “Faith Factors”.

Safe Church Training

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Concord New Hampshire is sponsoring Safe Church training in the near future.  While this training is useful, the New England Synod has only “encouraged” pastors to attend this training.   Dan suggested that the training (and subsequent development of a policy) be deferred until the Synod (or CtK) pushes for attendance by Congregation Council and all adults who work with youth.

Youth Ministry Summary for Web Site

We review document prepared by Dan.  The only change was to add the Youth Ministries  mission statement.

State of Youth Ministry

We reviewed the document prepared for council retreat.  We discussed Heidi’s comments and Dan will incorporate changes before distributing the document to CtK Council.  There is a need to follow up with youth to get their perspective on Youth Ministries.  The forums on Sunday morning may be a place to do this.

Easter Brunch

We will need to review our plans based on the availability of the dishes.  At one time, we thought that the kitchen would have been packed up by Easter.  At this writing, we are not so sure.

April Youth Group Meeting

Dan should have contacted some youth to help put this together.  This did not happen.  Since promotions for the meeting did not happen, the meeting was quietly cancelled.

Next Meeting

To be determined.
