Youth Quake This year’s Youth Quake participants met on Sunday, January 12th for our pre-event Bible study and logistics for the event. An information sheet was distributed with information for attendees and parents.
Lock In The Lock In is moving forward. Reminder mailings will go out this week. Captive Free posters will be included for ten targeted congregations. The Wilhelm family has graciously volunteered to by the primary interface with the band when they are here.
Monarchs game The last published minutes incorrectly listed the game date as Sunday February 21 at 4:30 PM. The correct date and time is Sunday, March 21 at 4:05 PM.
Monadnock campout We have a group site booked for Friday and Saturday (May 21-22). The Site is a 15-person site. We are targeting 11-12 youth and 4 adults. Planning for this event will occur after the lock in.
Youth Events Budget The following amounts were submitted for youth events in 2004.
These numbers will be the baseline amounts proposed to the congregation at the congregation meeting on February1st.
Contemporary Service We decided the that contemporary service will take place at both the 8 and 10:30 services on either May 9th or May 16th.The first planning meeting will take place on Sunday, February 8th at 4 PM. We will seek musicians and other who want to be involved in the planning and the in the actual service. Souper Bowl There is an expectation that youth provide subs for the congregation. We will put up sign-up sheets this week.
Youth Meetings We have not gathered the youth group together since the September meeting. There is a concern that there should be more opportunities for fellowship. We discussed the need for ideas and will pursue this topic at Youth Quake during family time. We are looking for ideas that are not expensive and don’t require much planning. Since our past success in this area has been spotty, we need to experiment in hope that we can come up with a sustainable model that provides youth fellowship opportunities on a frequent basis.
ELCA Northeast Gathering This event will take place at Wagner College (an ELCA college on Staten Island). The event consists of workshops, fellowship and service. The materials provided did not give any specifics about the programming at the event. The cost per person is $325, which includes lodging and meals. CtK has never sent youth or adults to this event and there is no money in the 2004 budget for this event. Heidi is on the planning committee for this event and has some free slots available. People filling these slots would be required to work at the event, but would be free to attend many of the workshops. We will publicize the event and the availability of work slots and play it by ear.
Next Meeting Tuesday, February 17th at 7 PM. |
