This document describes the various places where adults can be involved in Youth Ministry Activities. It is limited in scope to various activities that are explicitly under the “Youth Ministries” umbrella. There are, of course, many other ministries, such as Christian Education and music, where adults are also involved with youth.
While most of the roles described in this document do not require specific expertise, some roles are better performed by adults with some experience. The “Youth Ministries” team will work with willing adults to give them the experience to perform tasks with an adequate comfort level.
Interested adults can contact Dan Skibba at dmskibba@adelphia.net or by telephone at (603) 424-9225.
The Youth Ministry Council is a group of adults and youth who meet monthly to plan and review all aspects of CtK Youth Ministries. This group is open to all adults and 7th through 12th grade youth. This team is the heart of Youth Ministries. The various members provide diversity and continuity to this ministry.
We need adults to help organize monthly youth meetings. This includes promotions, planning food and what to do at the meetings. These adults will act as “guides” to give direction to youth-led meetings and fellowship events. Ideally, this work can be spread out among many adults.
Each events has some or all of the following tasks:
|
Promotions |
|
Event logistics planning |
|
Generate signup form and event description |
|
Handle event registration |
|
Conduct pre-event meeting |
|
Conduct post-event meeting |
|
Event follow-up |
The same person need not do all or multiples of the tasks described above. There are a variety of skills needed to conduct events.
Adult Chaperones accompany youth to all events. These events include local fellowship events, such as bowling and rock climbing. Area events include campouts (in tents), Calumet events (cabins) and service events. National events include the tri-annual ELCA national gathering and regional gatherings such as the service project planned for the summer of 2005.
We would like to create a Youth Events Calendar that could be posted on the Youth Bulletin Board and on the CtK website. At a minimum, we would like to have the calendar reflect all youth events and the various meetings and deadlines associated with events. Ideally, the calendar on the web site would contain links to the information about the referenced events. We need an adult to maintain the calendar, keep the bulletin board updated and provide the calendar to the web master for posting. CtK will purchase calendar software if needed.
Extra drivers are need on occasions when the adults going to an offsite youth event cannot accommodate all of the youth in their vehicles.
This involves bulletin inserts and post cards (with labels printed from the database).
This is a weekly bulletin insert that highlights upcoming events. We need an adult who is willing to update this document (with MS Word or MS Publisher) on a weekly basis and give the document to the CtK Administrative assistant in time to include it in the Sunday bulletin.
