Hammonassett Synod Youth Gathering

September 9-11, 2005

* a great time with friends while connecting with God

* a really great way to help to strengthen you relationship with God

* you can have fun but still learn about the God stuff

These are some of the words and phrases that our youth used to describe their experience at Hammonassett State Park in Connecticut in early September.

Fifteen kids and seven adults from CtK attended the "Soak Up the Son" weekend - enjoying great music, a fabulous speaker, games, bright sunshine, cool nights, amazing food, worship, and fellowship together along with 600 other kids and chaperones from all over New England.

Take a minute to ask anyone in this picture to tell you about the weekend. Listen for the great music we brought back to enjoy and share with you. Hear and know the words we heard -
GOD IS GOOD . . . . ALL THE TIME!!!

COMPASSION

Compassion. A word that's so strong and so powerful, that it moves so many people. This word is also a program that inspires the very thing it means. A program called Compassion helps little boys and girls in need. It gives them food and water, but what is even better; it allows them to come to church and grow in their faith. It helps their health and families. All of this is given to a little child by sending just $32 a month. That is like giving up a Coffee Coolata a day. Just by giving that up, you are helping to make a little boy's or girl's stomach full and thirst quenched.

Our youth group felt the need to join this group and help out a little girl named Yennifer Tatiana Leiva Jimenez. She is 5 years old and lives in El Salvador. We are planning to do many different projects to help raise the money to support this little girl. The youth of this congregation felt that we were called to do this, and giving up a dollar or two per month for a little child's health and faith was the least we could do. If you would like to help us support this cause for Yennifer, please contact Judy Converse, Corinne Chomiczewski, or Lisa Hansen. You can reach Judy at jconverse@ctknashua.org and please feel free to call the church at 882-6142 (ext. 3).
