3-YEAR-OLD PROGRAM
Our 3-year-old program offers families a choice in classes for their children. In a comfortable 2 ½ hour timeframe, parents may choose a 2 day morning, 3 day morning, or a 3 day afternoon program. Children who have had preschool or daycare experience as a 2-year-old may opt for the 3 day class which offers a slightly more expanded program with the additional day. The more traditional 2 day program is offered for those children who are just beginning their preschool experience. One teacher and one assistant facilitate the classes of 15 children each. Uppercase letters, colors, numbers 1-10, and shapes are introduced through crafts, games, and manipulatives. Goals for this age level are geared toward learning social interactions skills with peers, character education, learning group dynamics, listening skills, and associative and cooperative play. Life science, sensory activities and natural environment observations are explored to promote curiosity and open-ended discovery. Center based learning is introduced. The faith formation program, SEEDS, is introduced at this level. Each week, the children talk about the Gospel message through story, songs, and a Gospel Weekly which provides hands on learning in a developmentally appropriate colorful newspaper format. Prayer Bear and Chapel Time with Pastor Keyl are a part of this program. Gross motor through outside play and music and movement complete this learning experience for 3-year-olds.
