All packed and ready to go!
The last week has been a welcome time to get ready. I learned so much about the
new worship resource, Evangelical Lutheran Worship, when at the churchwide offices
in Chicago, in crammed sessions of singing and listening to presentations. Our New
England Synod group is a great team, and we had lots of fun together. Our big night
on the town last Wednesday brought us to the Parthenon, a great restaurant in Greektown
where I went last when I was a first-year student at LSTC.
Coming back to pack gave me days to unwind from ministry and gear up for sabbatical.
I already appreciate the time to prepare without responsibilities at CtK, which has
made the task of getting ready for five weeks away in a foreign land much more deliberate
and manageable.
We feel blessed by our congregation, our neighbors, and our family.
Tomorrow Geoff and Jana Holst will bring us to the airport and Kari, the kids,
and I will meet my parents and my sister while stopping over at Dulles enroute to
Frankfurt and Tel Aviv. We leave Manchester at 11:01 am tomorrow, and arrive at
Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv on Monday, at 2:40 pm. What a trip!
